The End of the Blog
Well it is now the end of this chapter in my life. As I write this I have less than 24 hours left in the USA. Over the last 18 months I have achieved and seen alot. From a work point of view I have met a great bunch of colleagues, experienced a whole new work environment and had the chance to work on some interesting projects.
From a social standpoint I have visited some great places including Florida, Indianapolis, Kentucky, Kansas City, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and Las Vegas. I have also seen some great musicians including U2, Nickelback, Snow Patrol, James Blunt, Jamie Cullum, KT Tunstall, The Pet Shop Boys, Counting Crows and Scissor Sisters. I have met a bunch of great people and took part in alot of new activities. I never thought I would ever say I played softball.
To everyone I have met over the last 18 months I wish you every success in the future as I now get ready to start a new chapter in my life.
I won't say Good Bye as I would rather end with See You Sometime.
Leaving Celebrations
It was my final week in the states and my mates were going to make sure I had a goodtime which I most certainly did. My leaving celebrations started on Thursday afternoon with a goodbye lunch with my work colleagues. We went to Hannigans which is situated about a 5 minute walk from work at Laclades' Landing which is in the old part of St Louis which hosts a number of bars and restaurants which face onto the cobbled streets. The turnout was great with most people I have worked with over the last 18 months coming along. On Thursday night the celebrations moved to a local irish bar called The Dubliner. We partied for a few hours in the pubs private room where we drank a variety of beverages including pints of Harp, Mudslides and Yager Bombs before heading to Jack Patricks bar which was our local when we stayed downtown. Not bad for a Thursday night out at least I was on holiday on the Friday.
Friday night involved a trip to Fairmount Park Racetrack for a night out at the nags. Again there was a good turnout with about 10 of us making the short journey from ST Louis. The crowd was a mixture of people who have not been to the races and a few who like the odd
flutter. The folks that placed a bet faired pretty well with nobody leaving with empty pockets. I hope the good luck continues all the way to next weeks Aintree Festival.
The final activity of the weekend was an easter barbeque. Steve Summers from the work was the host and he put on a good spread even though the weather was a bit on the nippy side even for us Brittish folks.
Snow Patrol
On Wednesday evening I was at The Pageant, this time Snow Patrol were playing. The show had been a sell out for a couple of months so I was glad I got my ticket when they first went on sale. Snow Patrol played for about 90 mins during this time they managed to perform all there hits plus some stuff from there new CD 'Eyes Open' and previous release 'Final Straw'. This was one of the best shows I have been to over here so it was well worth the $30 ticket price.
