Noonday Club

Just like last year our works Xmas party was held at the Noonday Club on the 40th floor of the Metropolitan building which is only a few minutes walk from the office. As the event was paid for by the work it was no surprise there was a good turnout. Appitizers were provided and consisted mainly of crab rangoon and various other savory snacks including toasted raviolli which is very popular here in St Louis. Drinks coupons were also provided which could be used at one of two bars to purchase beverages of your choosing. In true american fashion you never had to move to far for more food as waiters in dinner jackets carried trays of appitizers around for most of the evening while two clasical musicians performed in the background. As you can probably tell this was a bit different from your usual night out back in the UK. But some things never change wherever you are in the world and I can't say I was surprised that our three English co-workers could not handle the pace and headed home early probably to finish their chores around the house.

St Louis Rams

We are now in December and winter has well and truely arrived in St. Louis. On Thursday some pretty nasty ice storms made there way through this part of the world. Luckily St Louis missed the most of them but the weather was severe enough to cause power failures throughout the area, fortunately downtown St Louis escaped OK.

This Saturday we drove through the snow to St Charles where one of our workmates Mark and his wife Beth were having an 'Open House'. As always the company was good we were well fed and watered and the evening finished with a friendly game of poker.

This Sunday I went to my first american football game of the season. Before you think I was mental for going to a football game in this weather the Rams play in an indoor arena known as the Edward Jones Dome. The outcome was the same as the two visits I made last season with the Rams losing to the Arizona Cardinals 31-20. The Rams season is now all but over as there current record of 5 wins and 7 losses will not be good enough to get them into the playoffs. At least this city has a good baseball team. I have attached some photos taken at the game. Posted by Picasa
